Process Engineer I (Material Characterization)

Reports to: Lead Process Engineer
Monday through Friday, First Shift

Position Summary:
Entry level engineering position. This position is responsible for mastering the various molding operations conducted within the Beaumont Advanced Processing’s material characterization lab. These molding operations could be for test specimen molding, Therma-flo material characterization or Autodesk® Moldflow material characterization. All work is performed on injection molding machines. The Process Engineer I role is a learning role in which the employee will be educating on how to direct and troubleshoot all of the molding operations within the Beaumont Advanced Processing Material Characterization Division.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure implementation and maintenance of policies and provisions of the quality manual
  • Mastery of the following:
    • Test Specimen Molding
    • IMR Testing
    • Shrinkage Test Molding
    • Mechanical Plaque Molding
    • Therma-flo Molding
  • The Process Engineer I is responsible for knowing how to complete at least one of the
    molding operations within the Materials Characterization Division
  • Data collection from the injection molding machine
  • Documentation of molding process
  • Maintenance of injection molds and inserts
  • Maintaining cleanliness of work area
  • Training of Process Technician’s I, II, and III
  • Point of contact when troubleshooting difficult resins or specimens
  • All other tasks and duties assigned

Requirements:

  • Microsoft experience preferred
  • 4 year college degree or equivalent certificate program
  • Experience in the injection molding industry
  • Able to work in a team environment
  • May require lifting items over 15 pounds

Materials Lab Engineer I

Reports to: Lead Materials Lab Engineer
Monday through Friday, First Shift

Position Summary:
Entry level Engineering position. This position is responsible for learning how to conduct material tests, analyze
data, and perform data fitting activities for the various tests conducted in the Beaumont Advanced Processing’s
material characterization lab. The proper analysis and compiling of these tests allows the customer to have a more
accurate simulation result when utilizing Autodesk’s® Moldflow simulation software.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure implementation and maintenance of policies and provisions of the quality manual
  • Test requirement evaluation and work assessment
  • Types of tests:
    • Moisture Analysis
    • DSC
    • CTE
    • Mechanical Testing (Tensile)
    • Shrinkage Analysis using OGP Measurement
    • PVT
    • Thermal Conductivity
    • Specimen Machining and Cutting
    • TMA
    • MFI
    • Capillary Rheometer
  • Performance of tests to specifications
  • Data collection, evaluation, and report generation
  • Maintenance of equipment
  • Materials Lab Technician training
  • All other tasks and duties assigned

Requirements:

  • Microsoft office experience, specifically Word and Excel
  • Basic Understanding of Statistics
  • ISO 17025 & ISO 9001 familiarity
  • Experience with thermal and ASTM testing equipment/procedures
  • 2 or 4 year college degree preferred

Process Technician I (Production Division)

Reports to: Lead Process Engineer
Monday through Friday, Second Shift

Position Summary:
Entry level position. This position is responsible for learning various molding operations conducted within the Beaumont Advanced Processing’s production division. These molding operations could be for material handling and/or mold setting. All work is performed on injection molding machines and the various auxiliary equipment that is used in the injection molding industry. The Process Technician I role is a learning role in which the employee will be educating on how to complete the various tasks at the molding machine.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure implementation and maintenance of policies and provisions of the quality manual
  • Resin drying
  • Resin mixing
  • Cleaning grinders
  • Cleaning blenders/mixers
  • Performing moisture analysis
  • Mold Setting
  • Mold Plumbing
  • EOAT Setup (connecting EOAT to robot)
  • Maintenance of injection molds and inserts
  • Maintaining cleanliness of work area
  • All other tasks and duties assigned

Requirements:

  • Microsoft experience preferred
  • Experience in the injection molding industry

Tool Maker I

Reports to: Tooling Manager
Monday through Friday, First Shift (Overtime available as needed)

Position Summary:
This is a learning position with the tooling division of Beaumont Advanced Processing. Team player able to work in a fast-paced environment. Manufacture tooling for injection molds utilizing mold making machinery including manual Bridgeport, surface grinders, EDM, and manual lathes. Employee will also perform mold fitting and assembly.

Responsibilities:

  • Operate equipment such as lathes, grinders, and milling machines
  • Construct and repair tooling modifications
  • Troubleshoot tooling process problems
  • Maintain, dismantle, repair, and replace mechanical, tooling and mold components
  • Assist the Engineering Department in developing methods to incorporate process and product improvement
  • Set up and operate CNC machine tools is a plus
  • Plan sequences of operations for fabricating tools using blueprints, sketches, or models
  • Determine quality of finished products, ensuring defect-free parts, by verifying dimensions, alignment, and specifications using measuring instruments
  • Use various hand or power tools
  • Assemble and disassemble molds
  • Responsibility for continuous improvement, corrective action, and quality of products
  • Follow established safety procedures according to company and OSHA standards
  • All other duties and tasks assigned

Requirements:

  • Possess problem solving and decision-making skills
  • Read and interpret mold drawings
  • Basic understanding of math
  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time. May also need to bend and stoop
  • Regularly lift and/or move up to 35 pounds
  • CNC Mill, Lathe, EDM/Wire EDM experience will be a plus
  • May require travel between Erie, PA and Sugar Grove, PA facilities

Mold Designer I

Reports to: Engineering Manager
Monday through Friday, First Shift

Position Summary:
This position is a learning role within the Beaumont Advanced Processing Tooling Division.  The Mold Designer I is responsible for learning to design molds to produce products and meet customer specifications and deadlines. Highly skilled and professional employee who can work in a fast-paced, quality focused, growing company.

Responsibilities:

  • Design injection molding tools
  • Create product and tooling models and drawings
  • Deliver designs and uses data to make sound engineering decisions
  • Ensure adherence to design guidelines
  • Work in a team environment while also working independently
  • Ensure on-time delivery of assigned tasks and projects
  • Strong collaboration skills – works effectively and cooperatively with all appropriate departments
  • Work directly with customers to determine design and tool requirements
  • Suggest improvements to product design for manufacturability or end use requirements
  • Conduct internal design reviews
  • Troubleshoot and correct molded part defects and tolerance issues
  • Responsibility for continuous improvement, corrective action, and quality of products
  • Follow established safety procedures according to company and OSHA standards
  • All other duties and tasks assigned

Requirements:

  • Experience with solid modeling software required
  • Basic understanding of injection molds and mold manufacturing
  • Possess problem solving and decision-making skills
  • Possible travel between Erie, PA and Sugar Grove, PA facilities

Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Plastics Engineering or equivalent experience
  • Previous mold design experience
  • Previous experience in tool and die or injection molding industry

EDM Operator I

Reports to: Lead EDM
Monday through Friday, 7:00am – 3:00pm (Overtime available as needed)

Position Summary:
This is a learning role within the tooling division of Beaumont Advanced Processing. Team player in a fast-paced manufacturing/machining environment under general supervision and without technical guidance, other than engineering input.  EDM machine setup, basic program modifications, strategic fixture and part set up, electrode management. Must be able to use measuring tools including micrometers and indicators.

Responsibilities:

  • Operate equipment such as plunger/sinker and wire EDM
  • Troubleshoot processes and problems
  • Assist the Engineering Department in developing methods to incorporate process and product improvement
  • Plan sequences of operations for fabricating tools using blueprints, sketches, or models
  • Determine quality of finished products, ensuring defect-free parts, by verifying dimensions, alignment, and specifications using measuring instruments
  • Use various hand or power tools
  • Understand specifications of the task at hand and the desired result by reading blueprints, mechanical drawings etc
  • Prepare and load raw materials and parts into the machines
  • Inspect and measure finished products and compare them with requirements to determine if the process has been completed properly
  • Responsibility for continuous improvement, corrective action, and quality of products
  • Follow established safety procedures according to company and OSHA standards
  • All other duties and tasks assigned

Requirements:

  • Problem solving and decision-making skills required
  • EDM experience required
  • Read and interpret mold drawings required
  • Basic understanding of math required
  • Toolmaker experience preferred
  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time – may also need to bend and stoop
